The Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) is pleased to announce its 2009 suite of rating products and services is now available online. The rules and regulations of the ORC Rating Systems (ORC International and ORC Club), the International Measurement System (IMS) measurement standards and methodology, the GP 26, 33, and 42 Class rules, the Green Book criteria for ORC championship events, the Regatta Manager software, and the official minutes of the Annual General Meeting in Madrid last month are all posted at the ORC website.
Also posted is a summary of the changes made to these products as well as to the ORC’s Velocity Prediction Programme (VPP), which has been improved and upgraded by members of the International Technical Committee (ITC). The new formats for ORC International and ORC Club certificates are on display, and a new product ORC is offering for 2009 is the Hydrostatic and Stability Data Sheet, in which measurements used for ORC certificates can be also used to generate data on a boat’s stability in measurement trim. This product will be of particular interest to organizers who require compliance with minimum stability standards for offshore races and events.
“We’re very pleased with all the diligence and hard work put in by members of the ORC staff, the ORC Congress and the members of the ITC to come out with these rules and other products before the first of the year,” said Bruno Finzi, Chairman of the ORC. “And we’re confident the improvements made will result in better racing for all sailors using ORC products and services.
“We also extend to everyone our warmest regards for the holiday season, and best wishes for a successful New Year.”
